Before You Register

If you have never taken an elearning class before, you might want to start by checking out Is eLearning for You? This will help you understand what elearning is and if it is a good choice for you.

Registering for an eLearning class is the same as registering for an on-campus class

Step 1. Before Registering

Check the technical requirements of the class and make sure you will be able to meet them. They could include computer needs, class visits required, or need for a media player. North has two computer labs available for registered students who have created a NetID. If your course has sound files and you use the computers on campus, you will need to supply your own headphones to allow you to listen to these files.

It is also important, if you are new to elearning, that you familiarize yourself with the technical aspects of online learning. This includes information about courseware as well as computer tips and information about campus computers.

Attention students currently residing out-of-state and enrolling in online classes at NSC:  At present, the college does not accept applications for registration in online courses for students currently residing in Alabama, Arkansas, Maryland, Massachusetts, Minnesota, Kansas or Utah.

Step 2:  Prepare for Class

Get introduced to eLearning Options. Find out about North eLearning Management Software, Canvas, textbooks, modes, tuition and fees, tech requirements and support as well as helpful resources to orient you and assist you during your class.

Step 3: How to Begin Your Class

Online Courses and Meetings

The link above will take you to the registered students listing where you can locate information on how to start class and your instructor's e-mail address. It is recommended that you e-mail your instructor to introduce yourself and use the information provided to access your course.
